Evelina’s story: Turning curiosity into impact
Meet Evelina Wiksten
When Evelina walks into work, no two days look the same. One moment she’s planning complex projects, the next she’s writing technical reports - or stepping into the reactor hall for an inspection.
Heading
“Just the other day, I was standing on the fuel handling machine above the reactor core, making sure the fuel assemblies were perfectly in place. It’s this mix of strategy and hands-on work that makes my job so exciting.”
But for Evelina, it’s not just about the technical challenge. It’s about purpose.
“Forsmark delivers about one-sixth of Sweden’s electricity. Knowing that I’m helping secure sustainable energy for the entire country - that feels meaningful. Especially now, when demand for electricity is growing.”
Nuclear Power: A workplace for everyone
Evelina wants more people to discover what she has: a career that matters. “A lot of people think you need to be a nuclear expert to work here. That’s not true. We have engineers and technicians, sure - but also administrators, communicators, even gardeners. What matters most is curiosity and a willingness to learn. There are so many internal training programs and opportunities to grow.” And diversity isn’t just welcome - it’s essential. “Different backgrounds and perspectives make us stronger. That’s how we innovate and succeed - both as a workplace and as a key player in society.”
Evelina’s advice to you
“Be bold. Explore nuclear power! It’s a future-proof industry with stability and endless opportunities to develop. You don’t need to know everything from day one - you’ll learn so much on the job."
