In our Active Directory & Collaboration area, we build and operate secure, high‑availability identity services that power Vattenfall’s global IT landscape. Our team ensures that employees, applications and devices can authenticate reliably and securely—both on‑premises and in the cloud.
That is why we are now looking for a Technical Expert Active Directory to join our international team.

What will you do? 

As a Technical Expert Active Directory, you will operate and develop Vattenfall’s core identity services, including Active Directory, Azure AD, authentication services, remote access solutions and certificate services. You will be responsible for operational stability, incident resolution (as 3rd‑level support), implementing complex changes, and improving services through problem management.

You will work across both traditional infrastructure and cloud services, supporting secure onboarding of applications and playing a key role in enabling modern authentication technologies such as Conditional Access, OAuth and SAML. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with critical, large‑scale environments and collaborate closely with experts from multiple IT domains.

 
Your tasks and responsibilities: 

  • Handling incidents as 3rd‑level engineer, ensuring service stability and fast recovery
  • Analyzing root causes and support problem management to improve long‑term service quality
  • Managing capacity, identify bottlenecks and report risks
  • Installing configuring and testing new releases, patches and upgrades (software & hardware lifecycle)
  • Driving approved changes following Vattenfall’s change management processes
  • Taking part in projects from request to operational handover
  • Ensuring secure authentication for Microsoft 365 and cloud services using Azure AD and Conditional Access
  • Operating and maintain secure authentication environments based on a tiering model
  • Supporting integration of authentication and authorization for internal and cloud solutions
  • Automating administrative tasks using PowerShell

You will operate the following services:

  • Active Directory, Azure Active Directory and Azure AD Sync
  • Always On VPN (remote access)
  • Active Directory Federation Services
  • Public Key Infrastructure, Distributed File System, Domain Name System

Location  
Stockholm (international team with colleagues in Germany, Poland and Sweden; hybrid work model) 


Qualifications

Who are you? 

You are a technical expert who enjoys working with identity services, authentication mechanisms and secure infrastructure. You combine deep technical interest with responsibility, precision and a collaborative mindset. You communicate confidently with technical experts, customers and governance stakeholders, and you enjoy working in an international environment.

As our Technical Expert Active Directory, you bring:

  • A background in IT, engineering, mathematics or a similar technical field
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD and Windows Server infrastructure
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (firewalls, security zones, encryption)
  • Solid PowerShell scripting skills
  • Interest in IT security and identity management
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trust

In addition, you have:

  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and IT security
  • Advanced English language skills (technical English included)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams
  • (Preferred) Microsoft certifications such as MSCA/E, M365 Enterprise Administrator Expert
  • (Required for specific work areas) Ability to obtain Swedish national security vetting level 1 or level 2
