Junior Network Engineer

Vattenfall IT is the internal IT provider for the entire Vattenfall Group. It is an international shared service center, providing efficient and reliable IT services and 1.300 IT Engineers located in different European countries provide daily support to the Vattenfall Group. The Network Department is an international Team which is responsible for design, delivery and maintenance of Network Services across all countries. They are hundreds of locations connected together which require stable, efficient and secure network.

We are looking for talented individuals who have a background in Network, who likes traveling and in addition to their passion for their own role, want to contribute in supporting a meaningful corporate mission. We are looking for an open minded person who thinks out of the box, has fun in digging into new technologies, and is eager to learn, ask questions and help others. Some experience in troubleshooting Network related problems, and fun in writing the documentation (handbooks, Wiki articles and presentations etc) will be very welcome.

Main Responsibilities

You, as an Network Engineer will be part of Operational team who does focus on daily maintenance of LAN, WLAN and WAN services on both Hardware and Service layer. Most of daily work is done remotely, but visiting remote sites will be part of the duty. You will also take care about Network stuff in German locations, show up there periodically and in case of an serious incident. This will also require communication with non-English speaking customers. Some Dutch locations can be also part of your responsibility. On-call, work in over hours and traveling are part of the work. Depending on your interest, we will help you to develop yourself also in specific areas of Network, like e.g. Software Defined Network, WLAN or Network Security.

As our Junior Network Engineer you will bring: 

• A Bachelor or University degree
• Knowledge about physical Network infrastructure components
• Knowledge about LAN, WLAN and WAN services
• Basic experience in automating your daily work (scripting, Ansible playbooks or something similar)
• Fluently speaking knowledge in English and German
• A driving license

Beneficial requirements:

• Network related education, trainings, certificates (e.g CCNA)
• Experience in Wireless LAN setup and troubleshooting
• Experience in working with Network devices, physical mounting them and configuring
• Experience in working with German speaking non-IT customers
