Working Student - Data Engineer (f/m/d) 

for our office in Hamburg – ElbSide

Vattenfall is now looking for the right person to fill the position as a working student - data engineer in Business Area Markets.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Assist in creating, customizing, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines to ensure automated and reliable data flows from various sources to central repositories.
  • Create scripts and automation for data integration and transformation using python
  • Monitor pipelines for failure, investigate and implement solutions
  • Work directly with Data Analysts to understand their data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Document data engineering processes, schemas, and business logic to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team
  • Engage in agile concepts such as code reviews, pair programming, and sprint retrospectives to ensure code quality and team alignment. 

Qualifications

Our ideal Working Student Data Science:

  • You are studying mathematics, engineering sciences, physics, economics, computer science or a comparable course of studies and are at least in the third semester of your Bachelor's degree or in your Master's degree
  • You are interested in electricity market fundamentals
  • You have experience with Python and analytic libraries (Pandas, Numpy). You enjoy programming and are interested in making dashboards in PowerBI
  • Fluent in English
  • Enthusiastic about working close with other members of the team – sharing ideas and developing together
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize own work, taking initiative to improve processes when required
  • Nice to have:
    • knowledge about docker images and containers
    • knowledge about any cloud platform (preferably azure)
    • Knowledge about timeseries data format
    • Experience with any orchestration tool

Additional Information

  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Working time: 20 hours per week, up to 37.5 hours per week (full-time) in vacation time
  • Minimum duration: 6 months
  • Location: Elbside – Amerigo-Vespucci-Platz 2, 3 minutes walk from Elbbrücken U&S-bahn station
  • Working laptop is provided
  • Supervision of final thesis possible by arrangement
