Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind, as well as other non-hydro renewable initiatives like PV/Solar and batteries. We currently develop, construct and operate wind generation assets across Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. In addition, we have a clear strategy to develop our solar PV and battery operations further.

The Contract Management department within the Project Delivery and Engineering function of BU Offshore Wind in Vattenfall, is responsible for overseeing contract execution of all our major CAPEX supply agreements for our offshore wind projects. The department has a close collaboration with our procurement functions to support contract drafting and negotiations during tendering processes, and thereafter to take contract ownership. In addition, the department has responsibility for claims management

The Senior Claim Manager is responsible for defining and leading the overall claims strategy and for driving successful outcomes across all claims and dispute resolution activities, including negotiations and arbitration. The role ensures claims are managed proactively, in line with the project’s strategic objectives, contractual entitlements, and financial goals.

Your responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire claims process package, working closely with the Project Management team.
  • Define and implement the claims strategy (including negotiation and escalation paths), ensuring the organisation is positioned to achieve successful outcomes, including through arbitration where required.
  • Draft and manage claim notices, determinations, and related contractual documentation.
  • Collaborate with external experts to conduct delay analyses and provide expert support.
  • Support the technical evaluations of claims and facilitate technical clarifications.
  • Support, and where agreed, lead settlement negotiations and manage escalation to formal dispute resolution/arbitration, coordinating internal stakeholders and external counsel to deliver the targeted outcome.
  • Manage the administrative aspects of claim management.
  • Support the final account calculation and contract close-out process.
  • Provide support to the Package and Commercial Contract Managers on commercial matter

Qualifications

Your profile:

  • Graduate degree in a commercial subject, legal, engineering or equivalent with extensive relevant claims management and commercial work experience in large scale infrastructure projects during tendering and execution.
  • Extensive contract and claims management experience gained in complex roles including joint ventures and/or large capital projects, in offshore wind or similar, with proven experience managing complex disputes and arbitration processes and delivering successful outcomes across claims, disputes and arbitration.
  • Extensive knowledge of FIDIC and LOGIC contracts, legal and commercial contract terms.
  • Strong commercial contract and negotiation experience / skills.
  • Working experience and proven track record of to navigate complex projects, interpret contractual and claim management topics, and act as an expert advisor on complex claims to the project and senior management.
  • Good understanding of construction terminology, progress calculation methods, programmes of work and project timelines.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to consolidate a large amount of information and to present the information in a clear and structured format.
  • Demonstrable experience of effective interaction with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work in a team and to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders incl. contractors to support information exchange
