Senior Business Development Manager

Your key responsibilities

  • Drive BU Trading's strategic agenda and overall business development activities
  • Analyse the constantly changing market environment to derive the implications for Trading's general strategy and identify related new business opportunities
  • Develop business cases and conduct analysis to open up new markets or businesses
  • Facilitate the delivery of new growth initiatives and complex commercial projects in cooperation with the Trading Desks
  • Steer and prioritise the project portfolio as well as coordinate all relevant stakeholders
  • Responsible for overseeing broker and exchange agreements, ensuring alignment on terms, and supporting negotiations on fees and related contractual conditions
  • Coordinate internal efficiency and change initiatives
  • Be part of the BU Trading Management Team
  • Functional lead for 2 employees
  • Monitor liquidity risk arising from the balance of physical and margined/financial positions, and take proactive measures in coordination with the Trading Desks and Origination

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Strong academic background
  • More than 3 years of commercial experience in the energy sector
  • Good understanding of trading, the energy market and the energy transition
  • Experience in managing complex projects and aligning the interest of different stakeholders
  • Strong commercial drive combined with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work independently

We employ around 500 professionals who are active across Europe with offices in Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom to drive the energy transition together. Our role in Vattenfall is to maximize the value of the overall portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging, and sourcing for Vattenfall's sales and generation volumes. We serve as Vattenfall’s single access to energy commodity markets and trade electricity, emissions, fuels, freight, and renewable certificates.  

Within Markets the Business Unit (BU) Trading is the energy trading hub of the Vattenfall Group. BU Trading is responsible for all trading activities around Vattenfall´s asset and customer flows to maximize value creation and improve sourcing costs. It provides market access services for the Vattenfall Group which means managing all hedging flows, from generation assets or customers, by Market Access. Next to handling our flow business, BU Trading also has a proprietary mandate. Our working environment is based on a collaborative approach, as we strongly believe that through teamwork, we can develop the most successful trading strategies.

The Business Development team within the BU Trading works closely with the Head of BU Trading and the trading desk heads to advance the trading function. The Senior Business Development Manager takes a leading role in designing and implementing the BU's strategy, and drives both changes and commercial projects across all commodities.
