Do you want to use your wind turbine expertise to solve technical issues that really matter for offshore operations? As O&M Technical Support Engineer - Offshore Wind, you will help Vattenfall keep our offshore wind fleet safe, reliable and available, because in the energy transition, there is a way

You will join our Wind Operations & Maintenance organisation, where you will provide specialist second-line technical support to offshore wind sites. The role is mainly focused on Vestas turbine platforms, especially V80, V90 and V112, and will suit someone who enjoys using facts, operational data and technical judgement to understand what is really happening behind recurring turbine issues.

You will become part of a team that acts as a central point of contact for technical requests related to our offshore wind turbine fleet. The team supports operational sites with technical queries across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, control-system, SCADA and alarm-related topics.

This is a role for someone who wants to move beyond fixing the immediate issue and understand the pattern behind it. First-line support helps when a turbine stops and technicians need direct help. Second-line support looks deeper, for example when the same issue appears multiple times and needs structured root-cause thinking, trend analysis and a standardised solution.

Be in your element with Business Area (BA) Wind
As part of BA Wind you will play a key role in one of the most exciting pipelines in the industry with 24GW of capacity stretching out more than a decade ahead across our key European markets.

You won’t only be involved in developing projects but pioneering cutting-edge innovation, new business models and ways of working with communities and the environment. Working as part of a leading European utility also means you could be helping a growing number of major businesses and brands achieve their own sustainability goals through partnerships.

What will you do?
You will support offshore sites with complex technical questions and help turn operational experience into better guidance, clearer documentation and more consistent troubleshooting. Your work will contribute directly to safe, reliable and cost-effective asset performance across our offshore wind fleet.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Receive, assess and resolve technical requests from offshore wind sites, using ticketing systems, operational data, technical documentation and input from relevant specialists.
  • Analyse recurring alarms, failure patterns and technical trends to identify potential platform issues and support improvements in reliability, availability and maintainability.
  • Support remote troubleshooting by using SCADA, alarm data, maintenance history and technical documentation to guide site teams towards practical solutions.
  • Create and maintain standardised technical solutions, alarm guides, troubleshooting instructions and corrective work packages for offshore sites.
  • Work closely with site operations, engineering, asset management, regional support, OEMs, suppliers and other internal stakeholders to make sure the right technical input is available when operational decisions are made.
  • Provide technical input to future projects, Employer Requirements, contract discussions and improvement priorities where operational lessons learned are relevant.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Technical Support processes, tools and documentation, and share knowledge with colleagues across the team.

You will not be one of many in a large technical support organisation. In this team, your expertise is visible. If you enjoy becoming the person colleagues turn to for a specific turbine platform or technical topic, this role gives you that space.

Qualifications

Who are you?
You are at your best when you can combine practical turbine knowledge with careful technical reasoning. You like to understand the facts behind a fault, use available data and explain complex findings in a clear way to people with different technical backgrounds.

You bring:

  • Experience with Vestas wind turbine platforms, preferably V80, V90 and/or V112.
  • 4–7 years of experience in technical operations, maintenance, troubleshooting or engineering within wind energy or another complex technical environment.
  • Technical background in electrical, mechanical or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Good understanding of wind turbine systems, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and control systems, with experience in fault finding and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience working with technical documentation and operational tools such as SCADA, SAP PM or other CMMS solutions.
  • Strong communication skills in English and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly while collaborating in an international environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to operational or offshore sites.

Location
Possible locations for this role are Esbjerg, Kolding, Amsterdam, Hamburg, London or Hexham. The role is mainly office-based, with occasional travel to other Vattenfall locations.
