As a Network Security Engineer, you will join an international team that safeguards Vattenfall’s networks and supports our journey towards a smarter, more secure energy system.

Your role

In this role, you will gradually grow into network security by working hands‑on with experienced colleagues and modern security platforms. Together, we operate and develop secure network solutions across offices, data centres and wide‑area networks.

You will:

  • Learn how we protect Vattenfall’s networks using tools such as firewalls, proxies and intrusion prevention
  • Contribute to security assessments and improvements in new and existing projects
  • Collaborate closely with network, infrastructure and security teams across countries

This role is designed to help you transition into network security, step by step, while building on what you already know.

Your profile

You have a solid networking foundation, combined with an experience in security.

We believe you bring:

  • Solid experience in network, infrastructure and security technology
  • Swedish and good English, both spoken and written
  • Working knowledge of routing & switching (e.g. CCNA level)
  • Experience with infrastructure security technology
  • The ability to work in a structured and careful way, even when things get complex
  • Good communication skills and enjoyment of working together with others

Technologies you will work with:

  • Firewalls and network security platforms (e.g. Cisco, FortiGate, Check Point)
  • Web proxy and secure internet access solutions
  • IDS / IPS technologies
  • Working together with Security, Network monitoring and management tools
  • WAN, LAN and wireless environments
  • ITIL‑based operational processes
  • Basic scripting or automation (nice to explore over time)

On‑call duty is part of the role and will be introduced gradually with proper support.

Location & way of working

  • Based at our Solna office next to Arenastaden or - in any Vattenfall IT country for Swedish speakers.
  • Hybrid working model (not fully remote)
  • Occasional travel for team or project meetings (on average once per month)
