Our Business Area (BA) Markets is looking for the right person to fill the position as

Market Development Manager

to join our team in Hamburg on a permanent basis.

The External Portfolio Management team within the Business Unit Customers operates at the interface between external market participants (e.g., industrial clients and municipal utilities) and the operational trading departments of Vattenfall Europe Trading GmbH. Core responsibilities include active external and internal portfolio management and the development of our product and service landscape, with the goal of enabling a fossil-free future together with our customers.

Your key responsibilities:

• Further development of portfolio management for industrial clients, municipal utilities, and resellers
• Steering business development activities for External Portfolio Management
• Managing and advancing strategic projects/products/pilots with internal and external customers, especially focusing on digitalization and decarbonization
• Creating pitch decks for product/service ideas, business plans, and decision templates for BU Customers management and beyond
• Transitioning new products into scalable, digital operational environments
• Independently leading internal and external coordination processes
• Analyzing and evaluating process requirements and associated contractual and energy market risks

Your profile:

• A completed university degree or equivalent qualification
• Experience in the energy industry or consulting with a focus on energy markets is a plus
• Interest in developing new products and business models
• Enjoy presenting and implementing ideas
• Strong communication skills, team spirit, and solution-oriented mindset
• Experience with digital tools, ETRM systems and IT interfaces as well as AI-applications is a plus
• Analytical thinking, initiative, and a good sense for processes
• Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoke.

We employ around 500 professionals who are active across Europe with offices in Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom to drive the energy transition together. Our role in Vattenfall is to maximize the value of the overall portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging, and sourcing for Vattenfall's sales and generation volumes. We serve as Vattenfall’s single access to energy commodity markets and trade electricity, emissions, fuels, freight, and renewable certificates.  

Within Markets BU Customers is enabling both Vattenfall and our customers to become fossil free. We do this by offering power purchase agreements to operators of wind or solar parks and by connecting customers to fossil free electricity. We provide market access services to large customers and (regional) energy suppliers and connect demand-side flexibility of industry to stabilize the electricity grid. We furthermore source electricity for Vattenfall’s consumer- and business customers with a strong focus to increase renewable sources of electricity.
