About the traineeship.    

This traineeship offers you a unique opportunity to kickstart your career in sustainable business. Your role as a Trainee – Asset and Business Developer

Be part of our initiatives in nuclear, hydro and other asset and business development in fossil free larger scale electricity / energy solutions.

Business Area (BA) Generation is responsible for Vattenfall’s nuclear and hydropower operations. Our mission is to maximize business opportunities while contributing to a reliable, efficient, and environmentally sustainable energy system.

Our staff function Fleet Development within BA Generation, is responsible for strategic planning, optimization of our generation assets, business unit support and follow-up, and business development activities.

This includes conducting analyses, developing strategies, driving strategic processes, and pursuing business and development opportunities. We also monitor the progress of BA Generation’s objectives, track external developments, and perform benchmarking activities.

Your daily activities:

  • Analysing, organizing and planning
  • Making Presentations / Story Lines
  • Supporting managers and colleagues in their daily work
  • Stakeholder management

As a Trainee - Asset and Business Developer you recognize yourself in the following:

  • Master of Science in Engineering or Business and Economics
  • You have a broad interest in infrastructure asset strategy and business development
  • You are a flexible team player and strong networker who communicates effectively and finds a way forward, even in uncertain situations.
  • You are fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken, German is a merit
  • Experience from jobs or assignments within infrastructure, project management or industry is a merit

To be considered for our traineeship, you should:   

  • Be a recent graduate with an academic degree or expected graduation before March 2025.  
  • Have maximum one year of work experience.  
  • Be fluent in English. Skills in other languages can be a merit.   
  • Be willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization.   
  • Identify with our principles: active, open, positive and safety.   

Location:   

You will be working in the department Staff Function Asset Development with Business Area Generation and located in Stockholm (Solna) or Gothenburg, in Sweden.

No cover letter or motivation letter is needed. The deadline to apply is October 18th, 2026. Selection will start after the application period with online tests, followed by interviews between the end of October to end November. We kindly ask you to use the same email address during the whole process (application and online test) otherwise there is a risk that your application is excluded due to system reasons. The final recruitment process will be completed by December, with a pre-employment screening. The Vattenfall International Trainee Programme starts on March 1st, 2027.

The security of Vattenfall and its employees is essential. For that reason, a pre-employment screening may be part of your recruitment process. The screening will be performed by a third party, called DISA.      

Since Vattenfall is a part of the Swedish critical infrastructure, many of our services are security classed. If this position is security classed the final candidates might be subjected to a security vetting process, according to the Swedish legislation.
