Are you ready to play a key role in shaping the future of renewable energy? At Vattenfall, we are taking steps to become less dependent on fossil fuels, and our journey needs specialists who understand how international trade and regulations impact the energy transition. As an Export Control & Customs Specialist within BA Wind, you will be part of a collaborative team that drives compliance and operational excellence across our wind projects. If you want your expertise to help accelerate fossil freedom while growing your career in an ambitious, forward-thinking environment, we would like to hear from you.

What will you do?

In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring that our offshore wind projects operate smoothly and compliantly within the global trade environment. You will be responsible for managing customs and Export Control activities, making sure every shipment meets both UK and international regulations. By supporting our team’s long-term ambition to set new standards for operational excellence and compliance, your work helps keep Vattenfall at the forefront of sustainable energy delivery.

You will:

  • Act as the main contact person for questions related to foreign trade and customs within Business Unit Offshore Wind

  • Coordinate with customs authorities and external agents to secure compliant import and export processes

  • Oversee commodity classification, embargo checks, sanction list screening, dual-use goods assessments and export license applications

  • Maintain accurate records in SAP or other documentation systems, checking data registers to ensure traceability

  • Support the Export Control & Customs Manager in process development, improvement initiatives, audits and training sessions

Day-to-day you will collaborate closely with colleagues across Procurement, Warehouse Operations, O&M Projects as well as suppliers and manufacturers. Your efforts mean that all necessary controls are executed efficiently—ensuring that goods move without delay while meeting all regulatory requirements. Success in this position is achieved when exports and imports run seamlessly; compliance risks are minimised; partners trust your expertise; and continuous improvements are identified together with the wider team.

Location

This position is based in London, UK, with functional reporting to the Manager of Export Control and Customs and disciplinary reporting to the Head of Supply Chain in Integrated Operations. You will support our offshore wind assets across Vattenfall, working alongside dedicated colleagues who share your ambition for a fossil free future.

Qualifications

Your profile / who are you?

You are at your best when you combine an eye for detail with a passion for efficient, compliant processes. Your background might include a bachelor's or master's degree in customs, international trade, or a related field, together with hands-on experience managing customs and export control topics in a dynamic environment. You know your way around customs regulations and export controls—both UK and international—and have worked closely with authorities and partners to keep shipments running smoothly.

To succeed in this role, you bring:

  • In-depth knowledge of customs procedures, export control regulations and dual-use goods requirements: Essential for maintaining compliance across complex projects.

  • Practical experience working with SAP or similar systems to manage customs data and documentation.

  • Strong communication skills that allow you to connect easily with colleagues across departments as well as external stakeholders such as suppliers and customs agents.

  • An analytical mindset, enabling you to spot potential risks early and proactively address them.

  • A collaborative approach—you thrive on sharing knowledge, supporting process improvements and contributing to joint solutions.

You get energised by coordinating between teams, handling several priorities at once and finding practical answers when challenges arise. If you enjoy navigating the complexities of global trade while supporting renewable energy projects that drive society forward, we would like to meet you.

The successful candidate will need to have the right to work in the UK
