Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other non-hydro Renewable activities like PV/Solar. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. In addition, we have a clear strategy to develop our Solar operations further.

The purpose of Business Unit (BU) Controlling is to provide the Director of Controlling and Commercials Solar & Batteries (SoBa) and the BU SoBa Management Team with insights in BU SoBa performance to drive excellent business decisions for BU SoBa product lines and legal entities.

We are now looking for a Business Controller to strengthen our controlling team on a temporary, full-time basis - please note that this position is limited until 30.06.2028.

In this role, you will act as a finance business partner for project developers and asset managers, ensuring transparency, financial control, and quality decision‑making across the project lifecycle. You will also be responsible for supporting the business with financial insights and analysis in a range of areas: from reporting actuals and forecasting long-term spend, to analysing cost and performance drivers.

Your responsibilities:

  • Act as financial business partner for a dedicated solar development subsidiary, facilitate close alignment between the subsidiary and Vattenfall internal stakeholders
  • Facilitate and coordinate the financial handover process of projects from the development entity to Vattenfall internal teams
  • Provide controlling support for projects in the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) phase
  • Prepare and analyse budgets, forecasts, and actuals, including variance and risk analysis
  • Ensure financial governance and compliance with internal standards and IFRS requirements
  • Contribute to management reporting, including dashboards, insights, and ad‑hoc analyses
  • Drive process improvements and automation in controlling and reporting 

Location: Hamburg or Berlin, Germany


Qualifications

Your profile:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or comparable
  • Several years of experience in business / project controlling, ideally within energy, infrastructure, or project‑based environments
  • Confident working with SAP (S/4 HANA) and Microsoft tools (Excel, Power BI; automation skills are a plus)
  • Analytical mindset with high attention to detail and a structured working style
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial topics to non‑financial stakeholders
  • Fluency in German and English
