Role Purpose

The Operations N5 QHS Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating day-to-day Quality, Health & Safety operations across the business.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role manages a team of QHS Specialists and ensures the effective implementation of QHS programs, compliance requirements, operational standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role acts as the operational bridge between strategic QHS objectives and frontline execution, ensuring consistency, accountability, and measurable performance improvements across sites and functions.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate daily QHS operational activities across assigned business areas.
  • Translate QHS strategy and business objectives into operational execution plans.
  • Ensure consistent application of QHS policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Monitor operational performance and drive timely resolution of issues and escalations.
  • Support cross-functional operational alignment between production, engineering, supply chain, and leadership teams.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of eight QHS Specialists.
  • Establish clear objectives, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, development planning, and capability-building activities.
  • Foster a proactive safety and quality culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support workforce planning, prioritization, and resource allocation.

QHS Management

  • Ensure effective implementation of QHS management systems and operational controls.
  • Monitor KPIs, trends, customer complaints, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Drive root cause analysis and preventive actions for recurring issues.
  • Support audits, inspections, certifications, and compliance activities.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, waste, and process variability.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health, and safety regulations.
  • Lead incident management processes, investigations, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
  • Monitor safety performance indicators and implement risk mitigation measures.
  • Support hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety improvement programs.
  • Promote proactive reporting and a strong safety culture throughout operations.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and track operational QHS metrics and dashboards.
  • Analyze trends and provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives focused on efficiency,  compliance, and risk reduction.
  • Support standardization and optimization of processes across sites or functions.
  • Ensure follow-through on audit findings, action plans, and operational commitments.

Qualifications

 Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in QHS, operations, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Previous people leadership experience managing technical or operational teams.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems and health & safety standards.
  • Experience with audits, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 45001) preferred.
