At Vattenfall, information security is essential to earning and keeping our customers’ trust. Our digital platforms—web portals, mobile apps, and self-service tools—are the front door to our services. Protecting these systems means safeguarding personal data, ensuring service continuity, and complying with strict regulations. With a complex IT landscape supporting millions of users, we embed security into every layer of development and operations. Join us in building a secure energy future—where customer confidence is protected by design.

What will you do?

In this role, you will take the lead in safeguarding our business by managing information, cyber, physical and personnel security, as well as driving resilience initiatives within the team. You will advise management and key stakeholders on how to strengthen our defences and prepare for potential disruptions. Your responsibilities include maintaining and developing our ISO 27001 certified Security Management System to ensure we continue to protect our assets—ranging from technical systems and physical sites to sensitive information and reputation.

You will:

  • Oversee incident management and business continuity activities, ensuring that we can respond effectively to emerging threats
  • Steer compliance with local, national and EU regulations relating to security and resilience
  • Maintain a clear situational picture of risks and report regularly to leadership teams
  • Collaborate with security officers, data protection experts, compliance professionals and risk managers across the organisation
  • Drive behavioural change by promoting best practices in security awareness at all levels

Your success will be measured by your ability to keep the organisation resilient in a rapidly changing landscape—by combining strategic insight with hands-on action. By working closely with both internal teams and external partners, you help create an environment where innovation is protected, challenges are anticipated, and everyone contributes towards a secure future.

Qualifications

You are a seasoned security professional with at least 8 years’ experience in a similar role. You bring a holistic perspective that covers physical, personnel and data privacy aspects. Your expertise in implementing and maintaining ISO 27001-based Security Management Systems means you can navigate complex requirements confidently and drive continuous improvement across all areas of security and resilience. You have hands-on experience organising and preparing for audits, ensuring compliance with both local legislation and broader EU frameworks—preferably gained within the energy or sales sector.

Your approach is both strategic and practical: you understand how to translate technical standards into effective actions that protect our people, assets, information and reputation. Your strong communication skills in Dutch and English enable you to advise stakeholders at every level clearly and credibly.

To thrive in this role, you best bring:

  • Deep knowledge of ISO/IEC 27001 implementation as well as managing audit processes
  • Current understanding of relevant security legislation, ideally from the energy or commercial environment
  • A recognised certification such as CISSP or CISM is an advantage
  • Proven ability to lead change initiatives in dynamic environments

You enjoy collaborating across functions—working with compliance managers, data protection officers and operational teams—to build robust solutions together. You are independent by nature but know when partnership brings greater value. Change energises you; you excel at guiding others through uncertainty while creating stability along the way. If you get satisfaction from making real improvements in security culture—and from being part of an ambitious team driving towards fossil freedom—this is your next step.
