For our Business Area Wind we are now looking for a

Working student – Data Analytics in Renewables Strategy & Market Intelligence (f/m/d)

for our office in Berlin or Hamburg.         

The Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore Wind, Offshore Wind and Large-Scale Solar and Batteries. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation and solar and battery installations mainly in our core markets.

This position is located in the Strategy & Market Intelligence team within the Business Control department, which is responsible for shaping the overall strategic direction of Business Area Wind. The team is proactively identifying and advising on relevant strategic topics to support decision makers in steering Vattenfall’s renewables business.

We require a working student to support with market analysis in the day-to-day business with a focus on creating quantitative, data-driven insights and working on improving our market intelligence tools and data landscape. The role will involve working closely with the team as well as exposure to the many different activities happening in BA Wind. A direct contact person will give necessary guidance and regular feedback.

What do we expect from you as a Working Student in BA Wind Strategy & Market Intelligence?

Key responsibilities

  • Develop quantitative analyses and data-driven insights on market developments using Python, Excel, Power BI, AI tools and PowerPoint.
  • Support the development of our market intelligence data landscape, including data acquisition, storage, automation, visualization, collection of IT requirements, data quality assessments and supporting IT in creation of data feeds.
  • Benchmark internal power market projections against external market data and identify key deviations and market trends.
  • Further develop, maintain and automate our market intelligence deliverables, digital platforms (SharePoint) and collaboration channels (MS Teams, Viva Engage).
  • Drive innovation by identifying and proposing practical applications of AI to improve team efficiency and enhance the quality of deliverables.
  • Support creation of our AI-powered market intelligence newsletter.
  • Support and conduct market research and analysis by collecting and structuring market information and market data through desk research, studies, participation in webinars, etc.

Monitor regulatory, competitive and supplier developments, identify emerging market trends and assess their strategic implications for Vattenfall's renewables business.

Qualifications

Your profile

  • You are studying business, data science or a STEM discipline, ideally with a focus on focus on data analytics, econometrics or quantitative modelling.
  • You have a valid “Immatrikulationsbescheinigung” (enrolment certificate) for the full duration of your working period with Vattenfall as of the starting date.Knowledge of renewable energies, energy economics and long-term power market projections is a plus.
  • Prior exposure to market research is a plus.
  • Experience with Python and Power Automate, Power BI is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) is required.
  • Your English communication skills are strong, both verbally and written. Knowledge of another European language, especially German, Dutch, Danish or Swedish, can be an advantage.
  • You are passionate about data and understand how data-driven insights support strategic decision-making.
  • Solid understanding of AI tools and strong prompting skills, with the ability to translate use cases into practical applications
  • You have a structured way of working and are performance-oriented with ability to prioritise.
  • You are highly motivated, communicative, proactive and you enjoy working in a team.
  • You ask for help and guidance when needed and think beyond the task at hand, making suggestions wherever you see room for improvement.

More Information 

  • Start date: as soon as possible.
  • Working time: 20 hours per week, up to 37 hours during non-lecture periods.
  • Duration: 1 year target duration with the possibility to extend.
