Within Vattenfall’s offshore wind business, Offshore Development develops, matures and secures our pipeline of future offshore wind projects. The way those projects are designed has a lasting effect on cost, performance, CO2 emissions and long-term energy output. That is why this role matters.

In Modelling & Optimisation, we work towards a shared mission: to create the best possible offshore wind farm designs at the click of a button. We are a collaborative team of around 12 people, bringing together engineering, software and optimisation expertise to turn that ambition into practical tools that help people make better decisions.

The Modelling & Optimisation team is Vattenfall’s competence centre for technical and financial modelling of offshore wind farms. We develop and maintain an ecosystem of in-house design tools that combine advanced mathematical optimisation, techno-economic modelling and co-simulation of physical models. As Product Manager, you will connect user needs, strategy and delivery, helping us solve the right problems for the people who use our tools. You will also help us explore how new capabilities, including AI-assisted and agentic coding workflows, can strengthen our products and the way we build them. We value openness, curiosity and diverse perspectives, and we believe better solutions are built together.

Responsibilities & Tasks

You will help set the direction for our wind farm design tool ecosystem, translate strategy into measurable priorities, and keep stakeholder and user needs at the heart of what we build. You will make sure we stay focused on the right problems, not just the most obvious ones.

  • Shape the product vision and strategy for the ecosystem together with the team, clarifying where we invest and what we simplify.
  • Guide the OKR cycle from stakeholder input and team co-creation through to regular review, keeping everyone aligned on what matters most.
  • Build and maintain the voice-of-customer loop: run surveys, facilitate focus sessions with users, and turn what you learn into roadmap decisions.
  • Co-create the team’s ways of working, including showcases, business reviews and syncs, together with the Tech Lead and Head of Team.
  • Coach and support the team’s Product Owners, helping them connect daily backlog decisions to strategy and business value.
  • Collaborate closely with modelling engineers to develop our design tools and techno-economic models in an agile environment.
  • Explore how AI and emerging technologies, including agentic and AI-assisted development workflows, can accelerate our tools and the way we build them.
  • Make thoughtful trade-offs, including saying no to work that does not align with the strategy, and explain why.

What your first year looks like

In your first six months, you will get to know the team and our users, take on the ecosystem product strategy, and guide your first OKR cycle with support from the people around you. By the end of your first year, you will have shaped the next strategic direction for the ecosystem and built strong relationships across System Design, Technical Solution Development and project development. You will grow into one of the key voices connecting technical capability to business impact.

Qualifications

Education/Qualification

  • MSc degree, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant field.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Experience

  • Several years of experience in product management or in guiding the development of complex technical software.
  • Familiarity with goal-setting frameworks, such as OKRs, and collaborative agile ways of working.
  • Experience in a technical domain such as energy, engineering simulation or B2B software. Wind energy experience is welcome but not required.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools, or an interest in agentic coding workflows, is a strong plus.
  • Experience building user feedback loops, whether through surveys, interviews, analytics or other discovery methods.

Skills, knowledge, strengths

  • You take initiative, are comfortable with uncertainty, and know how to bring people along with you.
  • You combine a structured approach with curiosity, enjoy learning continuously, and can hold many threads at once without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • You are skilled at bridging different perspectives and finding common ground without compromising on the right solution. You value collaboration, a pragmatic approach and helping others succeed.
  • You have a positive mindset and the discipline to stay in the problem space long enough to be confident we are working on the right thing. You thrive in international, interdisciplinary environments where diverse teams build something together.
  • You can zoom in on critical details and their impact on subsystems while also keeping sight of how everything fits together.
  • You are curious about how AI is changing the way software is built and interested in what that means for our products and ways of working.

If this role excites you, but your experience does not match every point above, we would still like to hear from you.
