Your role as Trainee Hydro Power Maintenance Development Engineer

You will play an important role in advancing our dynamic maintenance initiatives within Vattenfall’s Nordic hydro power operations. By applying modern methods and innovative approaches, you will help optimize and develop our operations to support a sustainable future. You will work alongside experienced colleagues in an inclusive and collaborative environment, where everyone is encouraged to contribute and grow.

You will contribute to the development of data-driven, and condition-based maintenance strategies that enhance the reliability and efficiency of our hydropower assets. Examples of your tasks and responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of modern maintenance processes, and working methods according to Swedish standards
  • Support optimization of maintenance strategies through condition-based, and risk-based approaches
  • Collect and process data from condition monitoring equipment to support maintenance and operational decisions
  • Analyze maintenance performance data, and help identify opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in developing documentation and training materials for maintenance processes
  • Contribute to initiatives that enhance reliability, maintainability, and long-term asset performance.

Qualifications

Requirements for this trainee position

  • A Master of Science in Engineering in a relevant field, such as Maintenance Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or Industrial Engineering and Management
  • Courses and experience within areas such as data analysis, programming, calculation, and hydro power are meritorious
  • Fluent in both Swedish and English.

To be considered for our traineeship, you should

  • Have completed, or expect to complete, an academic degree before the program starts in March 2027
  • Have no more than one year of relevant work experience after graduation, excluding internships and working-student roles
  • Be available for the full-time program from its start date
  • Have the right to work in the country where the position is based, or meet the stated work-permit requirements
  • Be open to mobility opportunities, and collaboration across different locations

Location

This position is located in Luleå, Sweden. You will work within department Maintenance Support and Development, in Business Unit Hydro Nordics.
