As our new Data Engineer, you will work in the MCP Data agile team, responsible for building and maintaining the core data layer used across BA Markets. 

We are hiring a Data Engineer to join us in our journey of strengthening how we make data available for automated decision making and ad-hoc analysis. Data is critical for our business and providing the needed data in a well-structured, reliable and easily accessible way is key to our business success. 

We work in an agile setup with team members in multiple locations collaborating and working closely with users of the data for maximum impact. 

What you will do

  • Design and maintain reusable, well‑structured data products using Python
  • Ingest and process internal and external data such as weather data and market prices
  • Ensure reliability and quality of data feeds through monitoring, alerting and validation
  • Make data discoverable, well documented and aligned with data standards
  • Develop deep domain knowledge of key datasets and become a recognised expert supporting users in understanding and working effectively with data
  • Continuously improve the structure, usability and reusability of existing datasets
  • Contribute to evolving our modern, agentic coding setup

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Strong Python programming skills. 
  • Experience working with data in a production environment with high reliability requirements. 
  • Experience designing schemas and structured data models. 
  • Practical experience with production pipelines; debugging and maintaining live systems. 
  • Ability to translate business/data requirements into robust data structures. 
  • Interest in energy markets and an enthusiasm for developing an understanding around the underlying data. Prior experience in this area is an advantage. 
  • A passion for being an expert in data! 
  • Fluency in English.
