Drive Impact as a Communication Manager
As Communication Manager you will work on behalf of the Heads of Communication for corporate, various business areas and staff functions and with other communication disciplines including Media relations, Public Affairs and Brand. 

You will independently drive communication for diverse national and international projects. Think of topics like environmental and sustainability initiatives across business areas, development of new nuclear in Sweden or corporate change programmes. 

Working on projects, your weekly tasks range from strategic work like developing and implementing communication plans or preparing decision-making documents to hands-on work like creating and distributing communication materials or coordinating internal and external stakeholders. 

Besides working on projects you will contribute to developing our team. How can we, as communication managers, work in ways that are smarter, faster, more fun? 

Business and Corporate Communication 
We exist to help Vattenfall achieve its business objectives by supporting with the right communication – to enable the fossil freedom that drives society forward.

The core team consists of 10 members, based in Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, London, Stockholm and Luleå - all working as communication managers. The extended team also includes the 4 Heads of Communication.

The Heads of Communication are responsible for specific business areas and are also part of the respective management teams. This way, they closely follow what’s happening businesswise and can take communication topics or projects back to our team, if they need our support. 
On behalf of the Heads of Communication, we lead or support communication topics and projects that are of strategic importance to Vattenfall and the various business areas and that improve Vattenfall's reputation internally and externally. We use our broad network and knowledge of Vattenfall to proactively leverage synergies, identify opportunities and risks and work on solutions. 

What are you going to do? 
1. Manage

  • Collaborate in national and international (communication) projects
  • Independently lead the communication part in projects. 
  • Effectively manage the needs and interests of all project stakeholders.
  • Create decision-making documents for the Heads of Communication regarding  communication topics. 

2. Analyse, Develop and Produce

  • Analyse audience needs and preferences, evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and improve overall messaging and engagement across Vattenfall.
  • Develop 360° communication strategies, together with other communication disciplines. 
  • Produce diverse communication materials, often working together with other communication colleagues and external service providers.

3. Advise and Coordinate

  • Advise project stakeholders on communication topics.
  • Coordinate external service providers.

Qualifications

Who are you? 
As our new Communication Manager, we expect you to have an analytical mindset. You can easily identify potential opportunities beyond specific projects that you and the team are involved in and besides that you’re:

  • Have great stakeholder management skills. You understand and address the needs and expectations of project stakeholders. You know how to resolve conflicts and how to get things done by involving the right people in the right ways.
  • Be a team player. Collaboration comes naturally for you, and you feel comfortable to proactively share within our team so that we can develop together.

You meet the following qualifications:

  • Keen interest in energy transition and curiosity to develop detailed understanding of how our different business areas contribute to it
  • Ability to quickly master new topics and establish good relationships with new colleagues and external parties
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in various communication disciplines, project management, or a related area
  • Fluent in professional English and your local language ( Swedish, German, Dutch)
  • Proficient in using Office 365, especially Word and Powerpoint

In addition, these qualifications are advantageous: 

  • Relevant (applied) university degree in communication sciences or a similar field
  • Experience with consulting in or for large international organisations
  • Decent content development skills (think of script writing or editing)
  • Comfortably working with AI-based solutions
