Do you want to shape the future of energy?

At Vattenfall, there is a way. A way to transform how energy is produced, traded and used. As an Asset Planner, you will play a key role in optimizing power production and enabling the transition to a more sustainable energy system.

Business Area Markets

We optimize the use of our energy assets and keep the energy system in balance in a fast-moving market. By combining data, forecasting and trading, we support both our internal business areas and external partners. This ensures that energy is available exactly when it is needed.

Within Markets, BU Assets focuses on production planning, optimization and dispatching of all power assets as well as hedging Vattenfall’s overall exposure. We maximize the commercial value of both Vattenfall and third-party assets and deliver a significant contribution to the Group’s results.

The Planning and Optimisation Nordic team is responsible for maximizing Vattenfall’s Nordic hydro, nuclear and  heat portfolio in the SPOT and ancillary services markets. In this role, you directly contribute to the integration of renewable energy and enable future investments in fossil-free power.

Your role – where operations meet innovation

This is a hybrid position combining hands-on operational work in the Nordic Dispatch Centre with office-based activities. You will work closely with experts in a cross-functional team, focusing on improving methods, tools and processes with a strong emphasis on automation and algorithmic decision support.

You will:

  • Work on production planning, optimization and dispatching of Nordic power assets
  • Participate in the day-ahead and seasonal planning processes
  • Bid Nordic assets into SPOT and ancillary service markets (planner desk, 7 days/week coverage 08:00–16:00)
  • Contribute to improving models, tools and automated decision support systems
  • Collaborate across teams to enhance performance and meet evolving market demands

A unique aspect of this role is the opportunity to learn the Nordic power market from the inside if you are not yet familiar with it.

Qualifications

Your profile

You bring a strong foundation in energy markets and enjoy connecting data, systems and operational processes in a complex environment. You are curious, open in your collaboration, and motivated to create quality and improvements.

You have:

  • A relevant university degree. Experience in energy markets is meritorious as is experience in production planning, ideally within hydro power
  • Programming and data analysis skills, preferably including Python
  • Knowledge of models, optimization tools and hydrology (considered an advantage)
  • A strong command of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

You also feel comfortable working both independently and together with others, building trust and exploring possibilities in an international environment.
