Our Business Area (BA) Markets is looking for the right person to fill the position as

Intraday Trader

for our office in Hamburg. 

As an Intraday Trader you work together with highly skilled individuals in a multi-national and dynamic environment. You are the key contact person for our internal and external customers. As a member of the 24/7 shift team you are mainly our trader on the intraday markets and exchanges, but to some extent as well beyond that. You are an integral part of bringing our assets and customers to the market as well as developing our proprietary trading strategies. We permanently develop and adapt our processes to changes in the market, securing and maximizing value in the Vattenfall Group as well as the Vattenfall Energy Trading value chain. Our ambition is to be the benchmark of the industry.

Key responsibilities:

• Keep track of the relevant markets and market developments
• Provide an excellent market access and service to our internal and external customers
• Develop and successfully execute intraday trading strategies
• Continuously improve our quality, speed and efficiency
• Foster advanced cooperation internally and externally

Your profile:

• University degree (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Economics etc.)
• Ideally more than 2 years of trading experience in a comparable role and with a strong track record
• In-depth knowledge of the Intraday markets, may it be gas or power or both
• Strong commercial mindset in combination with very good analytical skills
• Ability to leverage market knowledge into profitable trading strategies
• High willingness of decision making on own analysis
• Excellent communication skills and good knowledge of English spoken and written, while German and other language skills are advantageous, but not a condition
• Reliable team player who is proactively supporting the team approach
• Resilience and determination to win it every day
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a trading organization, that offers excellent career development opportunities
• Programming skills and knowledge about algorithmic trading would be an asset

We employ around 500 professionals who are active across Europe with offices in Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom to drive the energy transition together. Our role in Vattenfall is to maximize the value of the overall portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging, and sourcing for Vattenfall's sales and generation volumes. We serve as Vattenfall’s single access to energy commodity markets and trade electricity, emissions, fuels, freight, and renewable certificates.  

Within Markets the Business Unit (BU) Trading is the energy trading hub of the Vattenfall Group. BU Trading is responsible for all trading activities around Vattenfall´s asset and customer flows to maximize value creation and improve sourcing costs. It provides market access services for the Vattenfall Group which means managing all hedging flows, from generation assets or customers, by Market Access. Next to handling our flow business, BU Trading also has a proprietary mandate. Our working environment is based on a collaborative approach, as we strongly believe that through teamwork, we can develop the most successful trading strategies.
