We are now recruiting a Director for Nuclear Fleet Safety within our Business Area (BA) Generation. This is a new department aimed at enhancing safety as a key factor in ensuring availability and profitable business. The position will support and report to the Head of Fleet Development - Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO).This is done by providing insights, challenge safety issues and concerns as well as provide directives for our Nuclear Operations.

The CNO is accountable for analyzing the nuclear safety performance and suggesting actions, in cooperation with the CEOs of Ringhals, Forsmark, and SKB. Additionally, the CNO is responsible for planning and following up on activities to ensure that all nuclear operations are conducted safely, in accordance with laws, regulations, Vattenfall’s policies, and a robust nuclear safety culture.

Main deliverables of the team:

  • Support to CNO
    • Provide Analyses: Ensure the CNO is aware of developments and issues in nuclear safety. This includes understanding root causes and recommending necessary decisions.
    • Executable Priorities: Offer executable priorities based on progress related to e-PM, WER, SOER, Nuclear Policy, Nuclear Commitment, and AFI progress.
    • WANO Governor Support: Provide support to the CNO in their role as WANO governor
  • Ensure nuclear safety is incorporated into business plan directives.
  • Reacting on issues raised (or not raised) in decision forum at BA Generation level
  • Monitor and react to safety issues and development within the nuclear safety area.
  • Foster cooperation with nuclear operations in the Nordics and internationally.
  • WANO Interactions and commitments to be managed: Wano Interface Officer, Corporate Peer Review, Hosting Secondees assigned to WANO
  • The position is a member of Fleet Development management team

Kvalifikationer

    • Experience: Proven management experience in nuclear safety governance. Familiarity with WANO and IAEA structures is essential.
    • Skills: Strong analytical abilities, excellent relationship-building skills, and the capability to foresee and plan for future challenges.
    • Attributes: Proactive, self-driven, and able to handle practical tasks independently. You should be adept at fostering trust and collaboration within the team and with external stakeholders.
    • Leadership: Ability to lead and develop a team, with a focus on both technical expertise and effective management.
    • Communication: Fluent in Swedish and English (written and spoken).
    • Travel: Willingness to travel between our nuclear sites and for international engagements.
