About Andreas Adolfsson
As a third generation Vattenfall-employee, one of Andreas’ most vivid childhood memories is accompanying his father around the huge mountain complex at the powerplant in Stenungsund. He describes it as a visit to a strange and fascinating underground world, and says it was the starting point of his interest in electrical engineering.
“For me, Vattenfall is somewhat of a family affair. My grandmother worked at the power plant in Stenungsund as a cleaner until her retirement, and my father has been employed as an engineer for more than 40 years. I visited the plant often as a child and worked there during my summer holidays as a student, so for me it was pretty natural to imagine a future working at Vattenfall.

Plenty of opportunities
I was initially hired by Sweco but immediately placed at Vattenfall in Luleå, and then after a year, I was offered a permanent position here. It had just met my wife to be, so the timing was absolutely perfect. I know that I have been very fortunate, Vattenfall is at the forefront, both when it comes to enabling their people to continuously grow as professionals as well as actively encouraging every employee to find a good work/life balance.
Freedom and flexibility
The job is interesting and challenging and no two days are ever the same. I have been given plenty of opportunities and have been lucky enough to work with many interesting projects. The benefit packages are very attractive, but most important is the freedom and flexibility I have. As a father of a small child I want to be able to be and active and present parent and to spend a lot of time with my family. I can plan my own days and as long as I get everything done, no one is standing over my shoulder.
The Vattenfall games
I really like the sense of community we have in Vattenfall, and especially our sports club Vattenfall IF that has more than one thousand members from all over the company. At least twice every year, summer and winter, hundreds of employees meet and compete in the Vattenfall games. It is a lot of fun, builds a great sense of belonging and it definitely keeps us fit. I think it is great that the company supports us in this, both by allowing us time off to train and compete, and also by sponsoring the events.”
