There’s a way to turn smart charging into smarter energy use

At Vattenfall, we exist to help our customers power their lives in ever more climate-smart ways. E-Mobility plays a key role in accelerating the transition to fossil-free transportation, and digital innovation is at the heart of that journey.

We are now looking for a passionate and experienced Product Owner Protocols & Smart Charging to join our international E-Mobility organization. In this role, you will drive the development and evolution of the applications and services that enable charger communication, smart charging, and energy optimization, helping us deliver reliable, scalable, and customer-centric charging solutions across multiple markets.

Organisation
As Product Owner Protocols & Smart Charging, you will be part of the international E-Mobility organization and work closely with developers, architects, business stakeholders, and external partners in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

You will be responsible for the products and applications supporting charger communication protocols, energy management, and smart charging processes. By combining business insight with technical understanding, you will ensure these solutions continue to evolve in line with operational needs, customer expectations, and Vattenfall’s long-term strategy.

You will report to the Director of Strategy & Product Development within Business Unit E-Mobility.

Responsibilities
As Product Owner, you will define and drive the vision, roadmap, and priorities for applications within the Protocols & Smart Charging domain.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for smart charging and communication platforms.
  • Ensuring applications support both business and technical requirements while contributing to E-Mobility’s strategic objectives.
  • Managing the product backlog and prioritizing features, enhancements, and improvements based on business value.
  • Driving the implementation of new capabilities, including documentation, training, and change management activities.
  • Supporting the development, maintenance, and scaling of energy management and charger communication solutions.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-centric and value-driven products.
  • Managing relationships with internal and external IT suppliers to ensure reliable operations and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring systems support efficient operational processes, financial handling, and compliance requirements.
  • Evaluating how new increments fit within the broader application lifecycle and architecture landscape.
  • Communicating product strategy, priorities, and recommendations effectively to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.

This position can be based in Amsterdam, Solna, or Berlin.

Qualifications

Who are you?
We are looking for someone who combines strong product ownership capabilities with technical understanding and a passion for sustainable mobility.

You bring:

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
  • Experience within E-Mobility, ideally working with energy management systems, smart charging solutions, or communication platforms.
  • Strong understanding of digital product development and application lifecycle management.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and with Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge of energy management concepts and IoT-based communication principles.
  • Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder landscapes in an international matrix organization.
  • Experience developing product strategies and presenting recommendations to senior management or executive stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively across teams, disciplines, and countries.

As a person, you are proactive, action-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership in situations where not everything is clearly defined. You are resilient, adaptable, and continuously look for opportunities to improve processes, products, and outcomes. Most importantly, you enjoy translating complex challenges into practical and impactful solutions.
