My story
I studied civil engineering in Delft and have been fascinated all my life by everything to do with water. Locks, dams, bridges… We are very good at it in the Netherlands.
Dynamic, vibrant and innovative
Wind energy, especially offshore, got to me when I was working around 2012 on the construction of a wind farm in the UK and burying cables for a wind project in Denmark. Since then I have never done anything but work in the wind. My first task as Head of Operations & Maintenance at Vattenfall is to set up the service organization for the Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm. The facilities in IJmuiden will be ready at the beginning of 2022 and about 60 people will soon be employed there.
Really inclusive
Vattenfall is really on a mission and it seeps through the entire organization. I hear that from everyone in the company, the green element is always mentioned. It is wonderful to see that the newest generation really wants to get started. But young or old, it doesn’t matter who or what you are here, as long as you are willing and able to work on the objective, everyone is welcome, wherever you come from. In that respect, the company is totally inclusive.
The most beautiful wind farm in the world
I am 100% behind the goal of becoming fossil-free in one generation and it is nice to see that Vattenfall is just doing it. Wind is dynamic, vibrant and innovative. That suits me perfectly and I work with all my efforts on wind energy projects in the Netherlands. So to start with HKZ and this will be the most beautiful and largest offshore wind farm in the world!
