Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer eager to drive innovation in wind power technology? We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Systems & Components Engineer to optimize the operational performance of our onshore and offshore wind assets. In this role, you’ll apply your deep knowledge of WTG frequency converter technology and electrical design to support project engineering, troubleshooting, and predictive maintenance. We now have an opportunity for the right candidate to further strengthen our team as Senior Electrical Systems and Components Engineer for the WTG Electrical System Team which is located in Offshore Engineering, with focus area of WTG Frequency Converter Technology.

The Engineering department is a team of highly qualified experts and the technical know-how centre within Business Area Wind, setting the standards and guidelines as well as being embedded within our projects, both through the development and implementation phase and later on take over the support to the operations as Backoffice. You will be a part of the WTG System Engineering team, working with colleagues located across the various European locations.

Your role



In this role, you will be a key contributor to the operational control and performance optimization of our offshore and onshore wind assets. You will collaborate closely with the Engineering organization, offering your expertise to ensure assets operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. A core element of this position involves fostering knowledge growth within the department: you will create, refine, and deploy best-in-class practices on electrical topics, ensuring the entire team stays at the forefront of evolving technologies.

Throughout the operational lifecycle of our wind farms—from commissioning through decommissioning—you will support ongoing technical evaluations, conduct root cause analyses (RCAs) at the main component level, and oversee the technical integrity of various systems. Your extensive background in the electrical design of modern wind turbines, especially frequency converter technology, will be instrumental in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and driving innovation across our portfolio.

As the Senior Electrical Systems & Components Engineer, you will also serve as a subject-matter expert, informing decision-making processes, guiding cross-functional teams, and ensuring that all engineering solutions align with both immediate operational needs and long-term strategic goals. By recognizing the potential of emerging technologies and consistently enhancing our technical standards, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable energy production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ad hoc support to the O&M organisation by providing technical expertise from commissioning to end of warranty to decommissioning of the windfarm
  • Root Cause Analysis and Risk Assessments
  • Investigation of predictive maintenance strategies for WTG electrical systems by use of FMECA
  • Support of projects during the Technical Due Diligence and contract phases.
  • Support to interface management during construction phase of electrical installations in on- and offshore wind farms.
  • Establishing relationships with internal stakeholders, like operation and maintenance, project managers and suppliers.
  • Preparing technical requirements for projects and their clarification during the preparation of contract documents.
  • In particular, compliance with the quality requirements in relation to the entire operation life time of the assets must be taken into account
  • Review of design documentation from suppliers and contractors to ensure that projects are completed according to specifications
  • Power system protection philosophy for WTG and networks (protection functions, relays settings, signal interface with SCADA, etc.)
  • Be active in the machine interface learning for WTG’s and wind farms
  • Preparing/updating technical documentation.

 

Your profile

We are seeking an electrical engineer with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering who combines a robust theoretical background with strong practical skills. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of experience in the wind energy sector, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of WTG Frequency Converter Technology, wind industry project engineering, and troubleshooting for complex mechatronic systems. Experience in the offshore wind industry - including debugging at both the turbine and park levels is highly desirable:

Next to this, you bring:

  • M. Sc. in Electrical Engineering or comparable
  • Broad-based theoretical knowledge and practical foundation
  • Required knowledge / experience in:
  • WTG Frequency Converter Technology
  • Wind industry project engineering
  • Trouble-shooting within components and complex mechatronic systems
  • Preferred knowledge / experience in:
  • Offshore wind industry with its state of the art technology
  • Debugging of fault events on WTG - and park level
  • Basic knowledges in the following topics are welcome but not requested
  • EMR, EMC, Lightning and Bonding
  • HV  66 kV / 132 kV  WTG power equipment as switchgear and cable between trafo and switchgear
  • Open mindset such as exploring unknown areas
  • Min 5 to 10 years of professional experience in this respective industry
  • Teamwork and communication skills for a close cooperation with various departments in an international environment
  • Good language skills both writing and oral in English, it would be beneficial if you have other language skills as Danish, German or Swedish
  • Flexible approach to travel for e.g. visiting OEMs and turbine inspections at site or workshop

In this role you will be directly responsible for:

  • Support continuous improvements and lessons learned during the value chain from early design to operations
